This is very calming...... I think it is the colour that does it........

Beautiful in its simplicity. The eye first lands on the blurred object, then is led up to the sharpest one.

I like this idea.....a wide view and a closeup inset. very nice.

 LesTensionUnited States wrote: Monday, 25 August, 2008 - 1:38

Hmmmmm......the insects are obviously the subject. Why name it after the plant? The insect looks a lot like F-Oedemeridae, G-Nacerda sp.

Nice series, except the middle frame is too dark. It looks as if the lights were left off...lol.

Arctium sp. It never looked so good. Vinnie seems to find these devils everywhere he goes.

Very nice! I like this one a lot. What program do you use to do this.
----
very easy to do, I use PSP for this, it is not such a huge and complicated program like PS and for this you do not need too many tricks. If you like I can tell you step by step...

Awesome Viv, great idea. You have such a huge artsy imagination. You are brilliant.

bugs going to work, coming back from work - on a Mobius Strip maybe - lol

I agree it is a great idea and worthy of a series. I don't love this example because I think the 'enlargement' should be a cutout (be part of) the larger picture and not a different view, arguably of different flowers. And, you might try showing more than one box - at different depths to make the overall experience 3-dimensional. Very cool idea, especially with flowers, insects. In a way that is what Picaso did with A Woman Descending a Staircase - he showed all different views in one picture.
---
totally agree with your suggestions for creating more depth......I will use the ideas! only one thing: the smaller bit it is a part of the larger picture!
Macro suprises people...you did not even recognize the flower eh? Cool!

What a neat idea. I may have to borrow your idea here and use it....
----
I am not surprised, it never takes more than a week before people do :)

 DigitalWorldPhotographyUnited States wrote: Tuesday, 6 May, 2008 - 5:39

frame and image complement each other so nicely

thank you!

 ♥ Myra ♥United Kingdom wrote: Monday, 5 May, 2008 - 11:30

Very nice to have the whole view and the close up of the flower.......
===
I am going to do more of these, I think it is a bit different and it shows off the subject well

 ♥ Myra ♥United Kingdom wrote: Monday, 5 May, 2008 - 11:29

This is beautiful...... great idea...... you must have spent a lot of time on these.......
---
once you know how to do it it is very simple and easy to do Myra, does not take long.

What else can one say but "WOW"!!!

 Christel ♥ :) ♥New Zealand wrote: Sunday, 4 May, 2008 - 7:31

You can even make a dead bird look good. Love this collage

What a brilliant idea Viv. I often wanted to do this but never thought about a simple solution like this. It looks great.

I am thinking of doing this with my flowers in the garden too, overall shot with an inlay of a detail maybe...
